How to Convert Your Blog Readers In To Leads

When writing a blog for your business, the goal is to gain visitors through producing remarkable content (content that people want to remark on or share). The more visitors you receive, the better your search engine ranking will be, resulting in an even greater amount of visits to your website. However, one of the most important things with your business blog is to turn the people visiting your page into leads and then customers. Because, what is website traffic, if not potential customers?

Here are some tips to help convert your blog readers into leads.

1. Catchy Blog Titles.
They say not to judge a book by its cover, this is not the case when it comes to Blog Titles.
Potential readers may come across your blog in search engines or Social sites, like Facebook and Twitter. Given the attention span of the average Internet user these days, your headline must grab their attention quickly and convince them to click through. Make it look like the blog post will be easy to read. Internet users love bullet points and tips. Try Titles like, ‘5 Top Tips to..’ or ‘A Step by Step Guide to..’, ‘3 Great ideas for..’.

2. Include a call-to-action.

Your blog is unlikely to generate leads if there is not a call to action present. Your call-to-action should ask the reader to do something like download an instruction guide or white paper or fill in a contact form. Make sure the call-to-action is specific to the content on the blog post, rather than just the same one on every blog article. The call-to-action should ultimately direct potential customers to a lead capture form. Through this you should be able to gain the readers e-mail address or some form of contact details with which you can proceed to nurture the lead.

3. Make it Easy for your audience to Subscribe.
If your blog posts are helpful, regular and relevant, you will find many users who will be more than happy to subscribe and ensure they receive future posts. Do not assume that everyone knows what an RSS feed is so it is important to offer convenient subscrition options. We recommend;
  • Email
  • RSS
  • Facebook
  • Twitter

By growing your following, producing great content and experimenting with your CTAs you will increase the likelihood of that your leads will convert to customers.

4. Make the blog an extension of your main website.
With an active blog, it will not be uncommon for the majority of your new traffic will come directly to your blog. Be sure to include links to your product or service pages on your website that relate to the blog article. Internal links are not only great for helping visitors stay on your website longer but they also help improve your SEO by reducing your ‘Bounce Rate’

5. Maintain the visitor’s attention.
When reading blog entries, people will often lose attention if the entry is too long, complicated or simply just not interesting. Ensure your your article follows a logical flow of information, true to the title or description that attracted your reader in the first place. The benefits of your readers completing your articles include longer time spent on site, increased chance of click through, subscriptions and sharing. It also improves the likelihood that they will look at your other posts.

Remember your blog is a business tool. It’s objective is to promote your business, build brand awareness, attract qualified traffic, establish you as an authority in your field, start conversations and ultimately increase sales.
When drafting your online content, always ask yourself, “Is this article going to help me achieve these goals?” If not, start again.
