5 Elements of a Click-Worthy Title

A click-worthy title is a good way of bringing in traffic for your website.title_example

Besides making your title appealing for SEO, grab people’s interest and give them incentive to click through to your page. To help, we have put together a collection of 5 key elements that will make your titles stand out.

1. Clarity

A confusing title helps no one. If a person can’t understand what you’re going to be offering them through your heading, then they probably won’t click through to your page.

So make sure you tell them what they’ll be getting, such as, “7 Ways to Increase Your Website’s Traffic”. Your readers know what’s on offer and that they’ll learn something valuable by clicking through.

2. Demonstrate the benefit

In a title, it’s always a good idea to explain how the reader will benefit from what you’re offering. As my example above, it explains how the reader will learn 7 ways to increase traffic to their site. People love content that will benefit them. If that’s what you’ve got on offer, promote it in your title.

3. Use excitement

Sometimes expressing excitement in your title can be helpful. Don’t be afraid to use an exclamation point or CAPITAL LETTERS! Make sure to utilise it correctly though. Don’t have your entire title in capital letters and littered with multiple exclamation marks.

4. Length

A long title is unappealing. No one enjoys having to read a long title, especially when they just want to know what it’s about. So, if you can, make sure your title fits on one line and reads well. That way you won’t exhaust your reader and turn them off.

5. Don’t betray their expectations

Don’t state one thing in your title and then have your content be completely different. Readers do not appreciate being deceived, even if your deception was accidental. So if you’re running a competition where you’re giving away a scooter, don’t say “Win a motorbike!”

By keeping your content in line with the expectations your title creates, you will get the traffic you want coming to your website.

An appealing, easy to understand and truthful title will earn you not just more traffic, but the traffic that you truly desire. If you have any ideas you’d like to share, feel free to do so in the comments below.
