Posted by Marketing Department on Thu, Jun 20, 2013 @ 03:00 AM

Every brand using sites like Facebook to market have a strategy that they’re attempting to follow. While some may tweak things and evolve their approach, no successful brand just wings it. There’s always a plan there.

On your website, you probably analyse your visitors’ actions and try to optimise the site so that it corresponds to people’s behavior. You try to remove unnecessary hurdles and make sure your potential customers get relevant information right away.

The .XXX Threat

Posted by Marketing Department on Sun, Jun 24, 2012 @ 07:00 AM

This blog is written by guest blogger Simone, a Mt St Michael's student who did a week's work experience with Margin Media.

The .xxx domains were domains launched in 2011 with the tagline “Let’s be adult about it”.

The intention was to create a distinctive URL and separate adult websites from the rest of the internet, with the ultimate hope being it would prevent underage internet users from accessing inappropriate material. Unfortunately it hasn’t been as effective as originally hoped.

Work Experience, Day 4

Posted by Marketing Department on Sat, Jun 23, 2012 @ 01:00 PM

Day 4, Margin Media work experience.

Today I was tasked with checking the content of a WordPress blog and researching the online presence of several telecommunications companies. The WordPress site was a replica of another blog and only contained about 6 pages and 20 links therefore it did not take long to compare the content of the site and the destinations of the hyperlinks to check that they matched; any inconsistencies were noted down and scheduled to be fixed.

Day 2 Work Experience, Margin Media

Posted by Marketing Department on Thu, Jun 21, 2012 @ 02:23 PM
Day 2 at Margin Media work experience.

Today, when I arrived at 9 I was set with the tasks of transferring a blog from one site to another and getting a copy of every image on a site for backup. I was surprised by the size of the tasks, the blog took about 3 and a half hours, but I quickly became more efficient and it was finished sooner than expected. I did not anticipate such a seemingly small task would take up so much time and effort.

After a short break I started copying the images from the client’s site. It didn’t take long to slip into a routine but even so by the end of the day I was only half-done. However, even though the tasks were repetitive I didn’t find myself getting bored, there was always something to do and I had plenty of questions to ask about the jobs that people did such as web designer, marketing expert and copywriter.

Today I had a lot of fun learning the ropes and getting to know the staff better, I am looking forward to tomorrow and learning more about the industry.

Introducing Simone, Our Work Experience Intern at Margin Media

Posted by Marketing Department on Wed, Jun 20, 2012 @ 02:55 PM

I’m Simone, a year 11 student of Mt St Michael’s College and I had the opportunity to spend a week at Margin Media, a web design and marketing company in the Valley. I decided to spend my work experience week in a web design studio as I have always been interested in web design, largely due to our dependence on the internet despite the ambiguity that seems to surround both how it is created and functions.

7 Reasons Why You Should Have Multiple Domain Names

Posted by Marketing Department on Tue, Apr 19, 2011 @ 11:31 AM

Today I registered over 30 domains for a few of our clients. While doing so I started to think about why we do this.
When a lot of businesses make the decision to go online they search for a domain name that reflects their business name, usually stopping at registering only one. In many instances this could be a costly mistake considering the low cost associated with domain name registration. Instead businesses should consider obtaining  a variety of domain names for their company.
