Last month may have a been a little quiet in terms of plaftform updates, but there is still alot of shifts going on in the background that will influence usage. Australia is consistently adding more users to social media platforms every day as demonstrated by the numbers in this blog.

Here are just a few of the updates:

  • Snapchat reaches 4 million daily active users in Australia
  • Twitter will now rank your conversations and count your tweet replies and has rolled out a ‘muted words’ filter to protect users from abusive tweets
  • Instagram goes live - adding disappearing photos and videos in Direct feature
  • Facebook now lets Pages access Instagram and Messenger interactions in one place, it also launched 'Rooms' in select markets to offer public chat rooms in Messenger

Australian Facebook Statistics

(Please note: With the statistics related to the 3 Most Liked Brands, we source this information from Socialbakers - based on Brands and their Australian Facebook fans only. We then prioritise the Australian arms of a brand if a brand appears more than once in the top 3 - e.g. we show the numbers for the McDonald's Australia page, not the American McDonald's page. If ever you notice a sudden fluctuation in numbers or completely different brand pages in the top 3, keep in mind we're basing this simply off what Socialbakers reports at the time. These statistics are available to anyone with a Facebook account.)
